Edge Birmingham is grateful to have Justin Warns overseeing our high school ministry. He brings a story, strengths, and a passion for seeing students’ lives shaped by God to Edge Birmingham.
“I had the opportunity to experience God through the edge ministry when I was in high school. I still can remember the volunteers who spend time answering questions, challenging my friends and I in our faith throughout my four years and at the time I always wanted to do the same for others. I graduated from Troy High School in 2002 and headed off to Michigan State University – let the trash talk begin!
. At State I learned, in the midst of college life, how to follow Jesus even closer. I learned how to share what I was experiencing in my own faith with others and I what it meant to not just attend church functions but to live out my faith wherever I went. I graduated with an Applied Engineering and Supply Chain Management degree and accepted a job in the Detroit. In the meantime I was lucky enough to marry my best friend, Jenny, and we moved to the Oakland County area together (that is a story in itself, and one i am particularly fond of). After 2 years in the automotive world for me and 1 year in teaching 4th graders for Jenny we took job offers from Kensington and here we are. We are passionate about the next generation experiencing Jesus because it was the people in my life that showed that same belief in me. They believed that through Jesus, we could experience a life that cannot be described by anything less than fulfilling and one that we hope to see students in our community experience as well! My hope is that we will continue to lead students to experience Jesus as we have, that they would see him as relevant to their lives and impacts who they are. My hope is that Edge isn’t just a youth group but is something that is inviting them to ask questions, wrestle with the tension of what He is calling them to and live as he has longed for His people to live.”
