Feel the Burn – Follow Up week 2

Hey Parents,
one quick reminder – This SUNDAY – PAM STENZEL is talking at our TROY campus about Sex. We will be meeting at GENESIS BEFORE 6pm so that we can take a bus to Troy together. You ARE ENCOURAGED to join this night and drive straight to Troy Campus. Doors open at 630pm and our program starts at 645pm!
See you there!

Your students and our culture is being shaped on a continually basis.
It may the music, tv, or movies. I believe one of the least talked about influecences in our culture is pornography.
Here are some of the stats as of 2010.

My questions for continuing your dialogue with your students.
1. How have we sacrificed what is eternal for temporary in our lives? (this in reference to the story we talked about between Jacob and Esau – Read it here in Genesis 25:29-33
2. (especially for girls) How have you seen you HUMANITY be tied to your Sexuality?
3. How can we help not make this a temptation in our house? (this may be a question for just the parents to discuss among themselves)

ACTION ITEMS:
1. We challenged the students to follow our Twitter account @edgebham or facebook account facebook.com/edge.birmingham so that we could post 5 verses and 5 question in 5 days. I believe it is so important for students to have scriptures that encourage them as they fight this temptation and all the ways that their humanity is tied to their sexuality.

2.Be willing to install one of two software’s on the computer – X3Watch or k9 Protection.
X3watch is a great software that documents websites used as accountability software.
k9 Protection allows you to place filters on your internet so inappropriate content will not be allowed to come up.

3. Get rid of the PREMIUM CHANNELS! Honestly, there is nothing encouraging about what they show later on at night and is not worth the temptation.

As you can see from the stats, it is a staggering issue. I encourage you to get involved and start the conversation!
